Mr. King's on-line learning journal
It's not just children who learn! Learning happens from the first moment you are born when you learn where to get milk from and how to get attention, until the years when you are very, very old.
Here are some of the things he has learned recently:
-
I learned that when I'm late in the morning, it's quicker to drive through the town rather than turn left at the traffic lights.
-
I learned that on my way to work it takes 7 minutes to get from the Celtic Manor to Usk.
-
I learned about Peter Kay, the comedian after finishing reading his book.
-
Whilst stuck in a traffic jam, I learned a new way to do my tie which means the knot is a bit bigger and looks nicer!
-
I always knew about the attack on Pearl Harbour but today I researched it again and now know a lot more about it.
-
I learned about how the children in Year 6 will be helped to settle into Monmouth Comprehensive School over the next 2 years.
-
I learned how to sort sets of photocopies on the photocopier.
-
I learned how to remove the car stereo out of my car & change the fuse to make it work.
-
I learned about a new way of seeing how well schools are working. (It's all a bit heavy but quite interesting!)
-
I realised that I can remember pictures really well but I'm not very good at remembering lists. For example, I can find a CD in the CD rack really quickly by remembering what colour the label is....but if I have to make coffee for more than 1 other person, I find it REALLY hard remembering what each person has in their drink.
-
I learned that when you paint a room & you mix 2 tins of old paint that you had in your garage, you have to mix them REALLY well.....otherwise the paint changes colour while you're painting the room....and when you get to the end, the two walls look different! (Then you have to start it again with new paint from the DIY store!)
-
I learned that when you talk about what you've learned you mustn't be afraid of people saying things like, "Gosh, I thought he would have known that!" You have to be honest.
-
I learned loads about the Titanic, the ship that sank after it hit an iceberg in 1912. There were two great programmes about it on TV. I think it's a fascinating story.
-
I learned that people learn in different ways and that we use different parts of our brains to store different types of information. That's why some ways of learning are easier to us than others. We need to learn how to improve the areas that we're not as good at using. (That sounds complicated but it makes sense)
Here are some of the childrens' learning journals........
